I live in a suburban area surrounded by neighbors, not unlike probably most hams. At my QTH I deal with numerous unintentional emitters of rf that basically establishes a noise floor level for me. I obviously have very little control over this. I must seriously question the value add of a rig that can "hear" -140 dBm (or less) if I have a noise floor hovering around the -110 dBm level. For me, noise reduction DSP breakthroughs are as important as quieter receivers. |
