[TenTec] MARS mod for 526 VHF xcvr?

Ten-Tec factory says this rig will not transmit "out of band", but I was 
wondering if anyone knows of an unofficial mod for this radio?

I need a MARS-capable VHF rig and would rather buy a Ten-Tec if possible.
