I suspect my search for a lone 9420 PS for sale will be
futile <grin>. I'm told that a good power source for the
Herc II are 2 ea 6V Trojan T-105 deep cycle golf cart
batteries in series. How long can one utilize these
before noticing a significant drop in performance ?
I checked with Trojan Battery's technical support and they
confirmed that these batteries are popular for this
purpose. They told me that at 80 amps continuous draw they
would last 100 minutes to discharge. I'm curious given
the typical duty cycle of radio use (30% overall I
suspect) how long a fully charged set would last...
If I had room I'd get at least 4 and series/parallel
connect them for longer life if necessary.
Interestingly a golf cart mfgr in my area tells me they
have these in stock for $58 each brand new.... is that
about right ? Several have suggested used batteries but
they are rare as hens teeth here in this area of
Wisconsin.
