Those storms can sneak up on folks. But safest to shut down and disconnect your rigs when storms are within 10 miles. Some lightning has struck from a cloud that far away, albeit an extreme case. My old 40 M dipole had an NE 2 in shack across the feeder, and it would start flashing from storms induction when storm cloud was 5 miles away as measured by the time to hear the thunder after the flash. 73, Stuart |
