Brought my Delta 580 along for the GOTA station but someone else brought
their TS-440 so the Delta stayed in the truck. I used a TS-870. Had front
end overload trouble until I realized the internal tuner wasn't activated
in RX. Changed that in the menu and presto, no more overload. I would
have used the 580 but a manual tuner would have slowed down my band
hopping and the narrow dsp on the 870 is awesome for contesting plus it's
tuner will match a wet noodle. For casual rag chewing, the Delta is my
rig of choice. Our site was the County Court House lawn. We used 2 40m
loops and a dipole. Lots of public exposure and many visitors. Even got
interviewed by the local press. Also, I highly recommend the 1kw Honda
generator. Whisper quiet! It ran all 3 radios, 3 lights and 2 computers
for 24hrs on 2 gallons of gas!
