[TenTec] Band Pass/Fade on Paragon?

Okay, I give how does the Band Pass/Fade controls work on the Paragon?  The 
description in the manual didn't do much for my brain.  I twist the Fade 
knob and the audio seems to flatten, but when I turn the BP knob I don't 
notice any change on a signal, whether it's CW, SSB or AM.

Any advice would be appreciated.
