Bill:
No need to put the tuner at the antenna. Just use the lowest loss coax you
have (RG8 / 9913, etc) and do it from the shack as you now do. Yes, there
will be high SWR on the line on some bands, but the losses at HF will be
extremely low.....probably not amounting to more than a half-dB worst
case. This is due to the "mirror" effect of the conjugate match provided
by the AT-11. All power is reflected right back to the antenna, in
phase. If you use open line, the loss is even less.
This is commercial practice....nothing new.
