Lee,
Jim makes a good point. I have a friend with severe power line noise,
and the same MFJ-1026 Noise Canceller worked great for him. He tested with
both the JPS ANC-4 and the MFJand found the MFJ to do a better job. For
local noise problems, this seems to be an excellent unit. Of course, it
doesn't help on atmospheric noise. Info available on their web site at:

Subject: Re: [TenTec] I want a really good receiver
Lee, I have a friend who has a similar problem and found somewhat of a
solution.
MFJ makes a gadget that you feed 2 antennas into. One is your transmitting
/
Receiving antenna and the other is just used by this device to vary the
pattern
of the T/R antenna. It phases the two antennas in such a way to null out a
direction. if your noise is coming from the direction that you null it is
gone.
I had my doubts and thought that it was just another MFJ toy but it really
works
with a couple of caveats. The second antenna must receive the frequency you
want
to work well. If the second antenna is deaf as a post on the frequency you
are
working you're out of luck. The second is that if you have 2 fences on
opposite
sides of you it will get rid of one but not both. Hoped I would remember
the
model number by the end of this note but no luck.
