I agree with your speculation. There will be that and more. However it is
too bad that the Japanese rigs will still cost an arm and a leg and TT will
not be able to offer them in a rig the average ham can afford. It will
probably be 10-15 years before they put it all on a chip or two and can
make the typical rig of 2012 cost about $100 (in time adjusted dollars), it
will perform better then any that exists today. That should make ham radio
more popular....if there are any hams left.
