I keep hearing that many different types of microchips may be affected with the Year-2000 glitch. I've been thinking about this.....would it affect any of our station equipment? I know that in a crisis, amateur radio would perhaps be the only means of communication until things got squared away. All the solar panels and deep-cycle batteries wouldn't do much good in a crisis like this, if a critical chip shut down....I'm not trying to be an alarmist, but it would probably be better to know of a potential problem now rather than in the middle of straight key night !! I wonder what Ten-Tec's approach to this is? Is there anyone out there who can educate us more ? 73 -- Mitch KG9DB -- FAQ on WWW: http://www.contesting.com/tentecfaq.htm Submissions: tentec@contesting.com Administrative requests: tentec-REQUEST@contesting.com Problems: owner-tentec@contesting.com Search: http://www.contesting.com/km9p/search.htm |
