The problem with all aviation headset is *NOT* that they are amplified. 
Aviation headsets used to be all carbon microphones, which require a bias 
current in order to work. All subsequent headsets are been designed to be 
compatable, whether they use carbon microphones or not.
Tie the one microphone lead to +12 through a 2.2 kiloohm resistor. Tap 
off the audio using a capacitor of around 1 uF. That should do it.
