I used writelog for a long time. After that I was impressed from the simplicity and reliability of wintest which I used in EP6T. When dxlog became free and because it was looking like wintest, I tried it and I use it as my primary contest software even my most of my operating is just casual. The small team behind it and especially Paul K1XM is a good reason to support it. We also use N1MM+ in my club. I have installed also and tried 5m contest, a Russian software that I don't like.

About my opinion:

N1mm is good for casual contest. You can setup it with everything, has the best documentation and a big number of users willing to help, and it is free. Its' graphical interface is also very good, network is reliable and over the 50% of users use it. Disadvantages are too use of mouse, it needs a lot of space in screen, default settings are good for casual contesting, the possibility to crash during a contest is something normal... but you will not loose qsos.

Dxlog has a rather dos interface (but it looks like the old beloved dos programs), but it is a completely windows program. It is very reliable, also free, simple to use especially on cw and ssb,  you don't need to get your hands from the keyboard. It is good only for basic rtty contesting. Also menus are similar to wintest (good) but with bad structure (bad). Just a few users use it right now (around 10% ?) while the most of them are Europeans. Something important to say is that among the top contesters, dxlog has more users than n1mm! Look the first ten in several categories in the last cq ww ssb and cw...

So I suggest DXlog...

For its simplicity, features and outstanding support I use N3FJP software. I am the Field
Day Manager for Citrus County Amateur Radio Club for years and use N3FJP logging because
a lot of operators are new, do not want to struggle with a feature rich but complicated
logger and because N3FJP software is just about bullet proof.  Try a free copy, you
will be impressed.  John, N4DXI
