Yes I stand corrected I was thinking DX contest. I know SS,
NAQP, AA,
and a couple others do not favor your area.  In all honesty tho
there are not
many medium or major contest where you
do not have even  a small advantage whether it's in propagation
or a time factor.
Or even as far as antennas are concerned.  My thinking is what
I could do with a high dipole
in Ct. I now need 2 elements on 40 mtrs. at 70 ft.  here in
Alabama.
I know as someone else told me "it's what it is ".   Not an
easy thing to accept for some of us.

New England is not advantaged in SS though. Hardly any top 10 finishes come
out of W1.
This is all about people needing to "feel the rush" of the clean sweep. A SS
tradition. Has nothing to do with advantaging an area. If you want to win SS, or even
come in top 5, you DO NOT attempt it from W1.

Maine is  New England. New England is still advantages to
everyone else.  Unless your
thinking it's Maine against Maine ?

While a conspiracy against the west coast might seem cute, the results
don’t bear that out.
I can assure you that when discussing contest rules at the ARRL, we do not
engineer the rules to disadvantage the West coast.
Even out East it’s not a slam dunk in DX contests either as there is now a
lot of remote competition clustered in Maine.
   It is what it is.

If you think it's a challenge from the Mid-Atlantic region, consider
what it's like from W6.
Any changes to contest rules that increase the advantage of east coast
contesters seems to be OK with HQ!

I can go one better. How'd you like to have to work it from KH6? Close
to 6000 miles away.. JA, HL and UA9 are closer. So is VK/ZL. This might
take away some of the West Coast advantage.
