You must have followed the directions for long-term storage, no fuel in the
tank, completely dry carburetor, run some oil through, etc. Those Hondas
are notorious for getting gummed-up carburetors if you leave them sit with
fuel in the system for over a few weeks or so. Then again, that could just
be the USA's crappy ethanol-laced gasoline causing the problem.
I spend a little extra per gallon at the farm co-op for ethanol-free fuel
and apply fuel treatments. I start my generator every week or two just to
keep fresh fuel cycled through the system. The average cost for getting
the carburetor cleaned/repaired at the Honda dealer is around $100, and
they're usually not open at night when the power's out. ;)
