How does somebody who uses a decoder get in the way of anybody except
themselves? And how does the use of a decoder in any way diminish the
experience for anyone else? Besides offending your sensibilities, that
is. Can you tell if somebody is using a decoder when you work them? Do
they have an unfair advantage over anyone not using a decoder?
Help me out here ...

If using a local decoder causes some newcomer to dabble in CW and in

be required to use them, and the dabbler will likely jump in once he
realizes the limitations of machine decoding.
And if using a third wheel causes a newcomer (who can't
balance on two) to dabble in cycle races, then I see every
reason for prohibition - because all they do is get in the
way of the competitors who are prepared.
Seems to me that knowing CW is a prerequisite for anyone
expecting credit for a CW QSO. Those who consider CW to
be just another data mode will likely disagree.
