Russian/Ukraininian (and whatever we can call it) Multi Single is an
exciting form of contesting. It is indeed according to existing rules, so
the debate is not about this. The debate is more related to missing
possible M/S participants because of getting a too extreme and specialized
variant of M/S with 2,3,4 or even more interlocked stations.
As SJ2W indicated, to have a conventional setup of M/S with one RUN station
and one or possibly two mult stations, has no chance of being competitive
with the extreme forms of M/S.
What does M/S mean from the beginning? Multi Operator SINGLE TX.
When we have Multi Operator with 4 TX interlocked and a bunch of guys
working in-band contacts, we have created a new form of M/S that few
stations have a chance to configure or fill with operators due to various
reasons. The form of M/S with interlocked in-band stations is exciting and
a true evidence of teamwork and operating skills - BUT it is not to be
compared with conventional M(S setups and operating possibilities.
It is not so easy to say that M/S stations of the conventional type will
move to M2 or MM. There is also a significant chance that a bunch of 3-4
M/S operators now will be one SO operator and 3 guys staying at home. Is
that good development?
I suggest that M/S could be divided in one strict Multi Operator SINGLE TX
with only one TX allowed as RUN and one additional station for the second
band opportunity in case of 10 minute rule. M/S Extreme will be the new
name for those who like to enjoy the challenge and true teamwork of many
interlocked stations on one band.
If there are two many classes now with this suggestions, then remove M2
which is a class that either easily can be adapted to M/S Extreme or M/M.
