The mistakes whether done on purpose or by mistake (bust) should make you cautious on using a spot. Confirm the call. I think it was K1AR who ran the CQ WW just using spots and his comment many were wrong. To the question of how could you know if you were spotted if really running single op. Simple after the contest do a search. It should not take long to find a bust and then do a list.
