The skimmers showed me running 21-23 wpm...pretty accurate. When called by
someone at a slower speed I *always* slow down, in one case to 14wpm...easy
to do with N1MM Logger. In that case the station sent me a single digit
number.
It makes no sense to maintain speed for the sake of rate if you stand the
chance of scaring off someone who may well be an SS newbie. The contest
population is greying too rapidly for us not to be helpful to the new blood
that we so desperately need!
