It's called "Strategy"   On the west coast, if 10 is open and you are not on
it, you're not going to do well.   If you spend a lot of time on 10m from
the east coast (long time = no rate), you are not going to do well.
Sweeps is a rate contest, and most of the US population is on the east
coast.  So, stay within the proper skip zones.   Pretty simple stuff. If you
compare K5ZD and N2IC logs for example, that will probably compare favorably
with these statements.

Rate is usually best at the MUF, but that rule goes out the window if there
are little or no stations to work.
