I live right under some 115kV distribution lines, and less than .1 mile from a 
switching substation. Although I occasionally have problems with noise, I'm 
actually surprised I survive as well as I do.  So far (only 26 years) all my 
problems have been with standard low-voltage stuff, like the transformer/pole 
that actually powers my house. An important note is that around here all the 
supports are wood poles. I know of other hams living near high tension wires 
that are supported on metal towers; these corrode and the result is horrendous, 
unsolvable noise.

I can't say if the place you're considering will be quiet or not. I just know 
it's possible.
