Dear Jousters and Jesters of the TopBand and Contesting Realm,
There has been much exercising of the little grey cells concerning
contesting rules and fairness and relativity and such. You should be aware
that
The Boring Amateur Radio Club is unleashing The Stew Perry TopBand DX
Challenge on Dec.26....a bit more than 2 weeks from now. This contest, by
design, has the most fair rules of any contest in the galaxy. Make a
distant Q and get more points than making a close Q. Work a low power or
qrp
station and get 2 or 4 times the points for making that Q. You'll get more
than frustrated or sweat when you work that nutty guy running 100mw to his
orthodontic appliance! You owe it to yourself to participate in such a
balanced radio ruckus just to experience a new, more fair way of
adjudicating a
radio contest.
Put down that Beverage and drive your computer to:
http://jzap.com/k7rat/stew.html and assimilate the simple rules living
there. Many other concepts are cleverly ensconced therein. This could be
the
future for contesting...who knows?
The Boring Amateur Radio Club has developed a simple plaque program for
The Stew Perry TopBand DX Challenge. Caring, smart, sophisticated,
forward thinking giants of our Radio World sponsor any category they think
might spur on the combatants to greater levels of competition. The only
requirements are that the categories must pass the family hour decency test,
as determined by The Club, and also remit $55 each. If you have questions
or proposals then please email me.
The afore mentioned Radio Stalwarts are listed below along with the
categories.

The Boring Amateur Radio Club advises that contesters who aspire for a
particular plaque to write that plainly
in their soapbox comments when they electronically submit their log of
contacts. We do make near ESP contacts on the bands but need your direction
when
it comes to knowing what plaques you're vying for as ESP has been shown not
to work there.
This contest is very close to a legal holiday. You may only operate no
more than 14 hours during the contest. Discuss with your loved ones the
need for
serious stress reduction during this holiday time and I'm sure they'll agree
that operating in The Stew Perry TopBand DX Challenge would be fine as the
time
is short and nocturnal.
There will most likely be more notices of this grand contest before the
starting gun so be sure to figure out what plaque/category you'd like to
sponsor for the realm.
73 and I remain,
Lew W7EW/W7AT
