Since the most popular Ham Radio Activity around the world is
contesting, I would like to propose that we EXPAND the contest activity
to all of the HF Bands. Why should 30,000 hams be constrained with just
the traditional 160, 80, 40, 20, 15, 10. We should be expanded into 30,
17, and 12.
In fact, if we look at density of use of our spectrum, contest and major
DXpeditions must be something like 80 - 90% of the QSO volume in a year
on HF.
Guys we need to stop playing defense and get on the offense. With good
data to support it, the non Contesting - DXing crowd will be begging for
permission to use ANY HF frequency in no time since they are not
utilizing the allocated frequencies as intended by the IARU.
I have no tolerance for the whiny "anti contester" "anti DXer crowd" so
that they can have a 6khz wide "clear channel" 24 - 7 and use it 15 mins
a week. And the IARU should use the same "effecient use of spectrum
allocation" criteria that they would use on any other service dialog.
