IMHO, the proposed changes to the M/S rules make very little difference. I'm
still going to use 2 radios, and keep 2 ops busy all the time, but have a
lockout to prevent simultaneous transmissions. One radio will be the primary
band radio, the other will be a secondary band radio. The primary band radio
will be running 90+% of the time. The secondary band radio will be scouting for
multipliers on other bands, and making assessments on whether the primary band
radio should QSY to a new band. When there are "enough" new multipliers on the
secondary band, one of the 8-per-hour band changes will be used to quickly pick
off the mults. Of course, there is nothing to stop the secondary band operator
from working non-mults on the secondary band at the same time. All part of the
strategy/fun. The primary run operator can use this time for personal needs. A
second band change will be used to get back to running on the primary band.
Part
of the strategy/fun is to figure out what "enough" new multipliers and new
non-mults means - that will change as the contest proceeds, and even within an
hour.

Steve, N2IC
