Martin VK7GN poined out the CQ WW article referred to was in the August 1981
CQ issue written by Doug Zweibel WB2VYA now KR2Q. Someone pointed out the
examples are all hand written logs
but reading through the tips most are still good today. The problems with
the 10 minute rule for Multi-Single are still with us today.
Its about time the article "Working the CQ WW Contest" was re-written to
incorporate the new classes, the proper and ONLY uses of Packet and Web
spots plus the skimmer and chatrooms. The skimmer so far is for CW but can
a SSB version be far behind. You have that now with the band scopes sans
call signs.
This way the CQ WW Insiders could fully explain how the contests are run,
logged, and judged. An updated list of CQ WW Committee Members and
Consultants would be in order. I do not think many contesters realize what
is required to pull off the effort between getting the logs and producing a
final results.
The article should be in CQ as the primary sponsor with a copy included in
the CQ Web page plus several other places that Contesters should and would
read.
This way many of the questions would be answered that seem to come up each
contest season.
How about it?
