I never met John in person but in 1997, I received a donation from him 
for a transceiver for a second station in Tunisia after 3V8BB. Through 
this generosity, 3V8ST at the Tunisian Scouts headquarter came on the 
air (http://www.qsl.net/dj7ik/3v8stx/history.htm). Again, thank you, John!
