Cindy Bernard, W6BA's granddaughter, is working on an archive of SK
W6BA's QSL cards. In particular she is seeking cards or replicas of
cards that Bill, W6BA, sent out during his ham career. Anyone able to
assist her should contact Cindy directly. Her message to me is appended.

Tnx es 73,

Bill/NG3K

Hi Bill,

I'm working on an exhibition based on Bill Adams archive of QSL cards
(I'm his granddaughter). He was a dedicated DXer and held many early
awards in the field, operating as 6ANN '24, U6ANN '25, NU6ANN '26,
W6ANN '27-77? and W6BA 77?-99. Although some cards were lost when he
became a silent key in 1999, I have about 4000 international and 2000
US cards dating from 1923 - 1997.

Although I have many cards that he received, I'd like to also include
cards that he sent. I'm looking for QSL cards (the originals, copies
or scans) sent by him to other hams - can you help out by putting
the word out?

I've copied the AARL obit from 1999 below.

Thanks for your help!

William A. "Bill" Adams, W6BA, SK: The DX and contesting communities
are mourning the passing of veteran amateur Bill Adams, W6BA, of
Twentynine Palms, California. Adams died October 29. He was 90. An
ARRL member for more than 60 years, Adams was first licensed in 1924
as 6ANN. Four years later, he made the first known transcontinental
QSO on 10 meters, working 2JN in New Jersey from his Long Beach,
California, QTH. In 1947, he became the first president of the
Southern California DX Club in 1947. He held DXCC Certificate #120
(1948) and WAZ Certificate #37 (1949). An active DXer, W6BA had
hosted many contest operations at his 40-acre retirement estate and
antenna farm since 1967. The N6AW team, which usually operates from
W6BA, has dedicated its 1999 CQ Worldwide Contest SSB score to the
memory of Bill Adams, W6BA. --thanks to Mike Mitchell, W6RW
