Tnx to all for the info (including direct emails).
Several en(light)ened me to the existence of an RFI@contesting.com reflector
that I didn't know about.
My bad: I got a big magnifying glass and read the teenie weenie fine print
on the back of the package, where I did find an RF Generator alert
(0.45-30Mhz). It hadn't even crossed my mind that these things would cause
potential problems, and I didn't have a magnifying glass in the store when I
bought them.
Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, the power company (PG&E) has been
running tons of TV ads for months trying to get people to switch to the CFLs
(I had forgotten the term). In high density areas, as more households
replace all their lights with higher wattage CFLs, I can't help but think
those using especially verticals are going to have some major QRN problems
when all the neighbor's lights are on.
It will be interesting to see if the BPL threat turns out to be peanuts
compared to high-density CFL implementation.
Tnx & 73.
Rick, K6VVA
