Actually I did buy a new contest radio 'today' - for the 06 CQWW... In my
declining years, with the children raised, and the retirement fund topped off,
I can afford any radio I want... I did considerable research including the
'price of a new car', radios... I chose the Orion II (model 566)... It has been
absolutely bullet proof - no shut downs, no reboots, drives the amps nicely,
and the internal keyer is excellent (I'm 99 & 44/100% a CW op)...
This is not to denigrate the high end Yaesu and Icom radios - fine radios
that they are - but I have the choice of a world class radio from an american
manufacturer that also happens to be (in my not so humble opinion) the best
bang for the buck...
