It would also help or encourage people to go to rare DX locations.  A 
DXpedition couldn't justify the expense and trouble if they sat and 
called CQ all day with a few S&P stations lucky enough to come across 
them answering their CQ.  By being spotted they will get more contacts 
and thus a higher score.  I can remember sitting portable DU calling CQ 
Contest for maybe 10 minutes with no replies, then one JA answered me, 
then in the next few minutes I had a mini pileup of JA's and HL's.  I'm 
sure it was because someone spotted me even if I didn't ask for them to 
do so.  Maybe I just sounded lonely.
