Looks like we will have to put Tesla Cup 2006 on hold due to lack of
preparation and support.
I was extremely busy with business and work around restoration of Tesla House
(old WOO AT&T Ocean Gate site) and could not properly take care around
sponsorship and legistics around the contest. Flooded house from the huricane
did not help either.
Just a brief history. As a result of some comments and unhappiness with most
contests being "unfair" and having biased rules, I gave it a try to come up
with rules that would eliminate or minimize those shortcomings in view of the
changing atmosphere of contesting. We rehashed the rules and I think they
address most of the problems and provide more levelled field and way of
comparing contester's performance.
I tried to get "godfather" for the contest, approached ARRL, CQ and major clubs
YCCC, FRC and lately my OK contest buddies, but got negative or no response
("who needs another contest"?). When I approached logger authors, not much
either. I would like to try one more godfather and if not successfull, we will
try to get it up and running for the next year by our Tesla RC.
What we are looking for is the updates for loggers to incorporate scoring
system, scores reporting and log reception and checking. We can provide web
site, rules and administration. Any takers?
I have received some inquiries and help with translating the rules to different
languages, for which I thank you very much. I think we have potentially great
contest at good propagation time and it deserves to be brought to life.
I am terribly sorry that I could not get it of the starting blocks this Tesla's
150th anniversary year, but life priorities forced me to do that.
I think it is time to have a contest with rules like Tesla Cup with internet
support and administered by us, contesters.
I will consolidate the web pages and try to have it properly massaged for the
151st birthday of this great engineering geniouse's birthday next year.
Any help is appreciated.
