The normalizing of contest performance per wavelength of antenna can give  
cool results.  Though not strictly a "wire", in the 2005 Michigan QSO Party  I 
had the NA 10 minute rate timer peak at 223/hr on 80 meter CW using a seven  
foot long HamStick mobile antenna.  In terms of wavelength, that was over  8000 
qsos per hour per wavelength of antenna.
