In addition to KV4FZ, KG6DX is back after some time in JA7 - he's very QRV
on 6 & it sounded like Joel made a fairly serious single band 10m effort in this year's CQ WW SSB. Don't recall any other pre-'78 calls like those still in use. The current JA holiday crowd that goes to KH2/KH0 increasingly show up with mainland US calls (it seems the first wave who got KH2/KH0 calls aren't getting on anywhere near as often anymore). Real Puerto Ricans can't get short calls & there's a part of Florida that is in Guam, apparently. Other than 'FZ, 'DX, a few KG4s & a group of KC4s, the remaining ambiguous US calls are the deliberate choice of the operator. Doing so is not cute, doesn't give you any advantage & can only irritate those on this side if you are in mainland US. I worked W1MK on 80 last night, so I'll keep an ear out for NP3D/W2 (certain to be the most listened to W2 this weekend - ah, a KP4... oh darn, he's /W2 - still no advantages & only disadvantages, IMHO). 73, VR2BrettGraham --------------------------------------------------------------- The world's top contesters battle it out in Finland!
