I was not on last weekend but I have been following the thread.
I suppose anybody can call a selctive CQ and eliminate anyone they want
either in a contest, or not in a contest. It is neither illegal or breaking
contest rules in my opinion. However, it seems as though the CQing by the
staion was at least, in bad taste.
Those of us who were on during the Cuban missle crisis in 1962 can remember
hearing Cuban stations on and having qsos with them...politics were just not
brought up.
Ten years ago the Tampa Tribune did an article about my station. In the
course of the interview I was asked are there any things that are generally
not discussed on the air in ham radio. My response was the big three...sex
politics and religion.
What a shame our hobby has degenerated to the point where hams refuse to have
a QSO with another station because they don't agree with his country's
politics. Cheating, breaking rules, no....disgusting, yes!
Bill K4XS ........ anybody, anywhere in the contests I work.
