My first ARRL DX test was 1961. The quota system allowed you to work 6-8
(don't remember which) stations from a given DXCC country on each band. I'm
sure someone at the League had a rationale for this "interesting" rule, but
I'll be damned if I can think of what it was.
Think the quota rule died a well deserved death by the mid-sixties.
