Sean, presumeably you are thinking of doing this for 160 meters.
There is no fold one end of the G5RV back onto itself as you
describe. Just tie the two conductors of the ladderline together
and feed it as a "T" against ground. You'll probably need a tuner
or matching network to get a good match on 160, but with a
good radial system you should find this to be a reasonably
effective 160 meter antenna system. I have done this at several
locations with 80 meter dipoles and had surprisingly good
results on 160 meters. Don't skimp on the radials, however,
this is the key to good success with a lowband vertical.
