I would say, very diplomatically of course, "go take a long walk off a
short pier". Cheating is cheating, and even if all is true, at best, he is
providing a horrible example to the kids. Much better they learn that
real-world behavior has real-world consequences (lousy handwriting) and
that stuff happens (old laptop).
