There aren't more hams than ever in the USA...
The totals have been stagnant for two years (max was in March 2001), and in the
three years before that the overall increase was only 1%.

Worldwide, ham radio growth is minimal also. The most recent published IARU
figures are from 2000 and show an increase of only 1000 hams out of 2.99
million... and only about 1% growth from 1995 to 2000.
