[CQ-Contest] Y2K NAQP Announcement!

Subject: [CQ-Contest] Y2K NAQP Announcement!

Contesters:

It's that time again. Bruce and I want to remind everyone that the January
2000 NAQP's are drawing near and there are a few important things to ponder.

First, remember to get your NAQP Teams organized and pre-registered prior
to the start of the contests. The January 2000 QSO Parties are as follows:

CW: 1800Z January 8 to 0600Z January 9, 2000 (second full weekend in January)
SSB: 1800Z January 15 to 0600Z January 16, 2000 (third full weekend in
January)

Second, remember that several updates/changes were made to the NAQP Rules
effective with the 2000 contests. MOST IMPORTANTLY, the maximum
transmitter power level has been reduced to 100 Watts and no external
amplifiers capable of more than 100 Watts output are allowed to be used in
this contest. This change was made in response to repeated requests to
lower the power level to a level that the majority of transcievers are
capable of producing. Not everyone can turn their power up to 150 Watts
but virtually everyone can turn their power down to 100 Watts so we went
ahead and made the change. Please remember to throttle back those 1000D's,
950's, etc! Maximum output power used should be stated on your summary
sheets.

Third, as a reminder of a rule that has been in effect for some time, all
logs containing more than 200 QSOs, which were generated with a computer
program, must be submitted as a computer file in ASCII text format via
e-mail or on 3.5-inch floppy disk.

Complete NAQP Rules and Sample Forms can be obtained by E-Mailing a request
to either myself or Bruce or from the NCJ Web Site at
http://www.vramp.net/~ncj/.

We expect the January 2000 NAQPs to set new records for scoring and
participation - so start getting your teams together and plan on operating
in the best one-day contest of the year.
