Hi Charles:
I encountered exactly this problem 45 minutes before the contest. I found
a link on the
http://www.arrl.org/contests
page down near the bottom where N1ND has listed all of the sections, with
both english (as opposed to CW) names and their standard abbreviations.
I printed that list out and gave it to the questioner.
