WORLD'S OLDEST FEMALE RADIO AMATEUR TO TURN 95 ON TUESDAY
Next Tuesday August 27, the world's oldest female radio amateur, Iris Hayes
ZS2AA of East London will turn 95. Until a week a go Iris was very
active on the High Frequency and Very High Frequency bands when she
suffered a stroke and was hospitalised.
In 1937 Iris became the first women to be licensed in South Africa. She was
a founder member of the South African Woman's Radio Club. Throughout her
many years of activity she made many friends world-wide. Iris is an
Honorary Life Member of the South African Radio League and an Honorary
Life President of the Boarder Radio Club.
We wish Iris a happy birthday and pray for her recovery. Listeners

Subject: [CQ-Contest] a possible VY1A pirate?

To the Contesting Gang:
During the CQWWSSB contest, I worked several reliable contest operators who
informed me that I had worked them on several bands and that I was a dupe.
I had to firmly explain that my wife's mother died this weekend, and I was
only able to get on the air for a couple of hours.
I see two possibilities:
1. BY1A or some such call was on the air, and the call AND zone were both
copied wrong (by known good ops???):
2. Someone was bootlegging the new VY1A call.
I would like to publish my official log, which is quite short, so that
people who may have worked a bogus VY1A station, can delete the QSOs before
their log is submitted and compared against mine by the judges.
Is this the right way to address this situation?
Someone who knows, please advise me.
