My venerable TS-930 has developed fan motor problems... again... after some
years of reliable performance. I've got several questions I'd like answered.
1. "Once upon a time" (circa 1991) there was a source of Kenwood parts from
East Coast Transistor Parts, Inc., P.O. Box 238, 2 Marlborough Rd., West
Hempstead, NY from whom I purchased replacement fan motors, dial lamps, etc.
Are they still in business? Do they have an email address or Web site? Is the
phone number still 516-483-5742 ?
2. The TS-930 fan motors are controlled by thermistors mounted on the heat
sinks. I seem to recall a Mod that "by-passsed" the thermistor so that the fan
would run continuously. Anyone know where I might look for this mod?
3. Is there a Kenwood Reflector ? If so, where ?
4. Has anyone solved the Kenwood fan motor failure problem by simply
"sticking" a computer power supply type 12 V DC fan on the back of the heat
sinks (after removing the defunct Kenwood fans) ?
Thanks to all for any comments...
Joe, W5ASP
