The rule was added one year after I operated the WPX CW contest as
single-op, multi-transmitter. I checked with N8BJQ before the event to
see if such an operation would be DQ'ed. Since there was no rule
prohibiting this operation, there was no reason for a DQ.
I CQ'ed simultaneously on two bands for most of the contest. I still got
beat by KT3Y. My most interesting QSO that year was when K1AR called me
on 15 meters and gave me the report on 20 meters. I can't remember what
band I logged. :)
At any rate... it was an interesting experience. I'm sure it helped my
score, but I dont think it was significant. Using the 2nd radio for S&P
can be just as productive if done right. It also shows that rules should
be tweaked constantly to stay in step with technology and other factors
that change the make-up of a contest.
