Thanks to Tine for the news on WRTC-2000.
Regarding the USA selection criteria: In the 1996 event clubs were asked
to chose one competitor for the competion. For the most part this worked
out. However, I can't help but feel this lends itself to being more of a
popularity contest than actual selection of someone based on their
skills.
I suggest that each club selects someone from not within their own club.
This will force the club to look at competitors on their efforts and not
their perceived ability and popularity. Even better, let the club give
5 nominations from not within the club, each with reasons for the
nomination. Let the WRTC USA committee tally the results and deal with
any ties.
Just my 2 cents. At least it's something new to talk about.
