I've heard several top ops mention taping their contest
performances, in order to get a better handle on their
strengths and weaknesses.
I am curious to know what techniques are used to tape
such a long event. The most readily available long
play recordable format would be 8 hour VHS tapes,
using the audio track only (preferably hi-fi.) Is
this what you use? DAT has a 3-4 hour limit, and DAT
tapes over 2 hours can cause problems in some decks.
Seems like cassettes would require constant attention,
and would therefore be far too distracting.
Do you pause to change tapes? Set up a series of VCRs
with programmed recording start times? Dub to cassette
for listening in the car later on? Any tips / techniques
you wish to share would be appreciated.
