Whatever it takes to insure both logs have the right information immediately after the end of the "contact" is all that is actually necessary. If both parties are satisfied this has occurred, the QSO is "complete". If not, either or both of the parties will take appropriate measures to complete the QSO or abort it. Either way, the ultimate decision will (should) be made by the log checkers.
