this won't fly in France
For years the French did NOT issue the callsign suffix QQ, in French when you
pronounce that it is the equivilant of in English saying someone was a gay
man....hence to avoid being insensitive, or breaking some Macho French Dude's
image by assigning him a callsign with "QQ" - they jumped over this call
letter group.....
In the seventies when pressure was high for short calls, sound familiar, a
French ham told them he didn't care if he got a QQ call, it was a two letter
call, he knew his priorities (and I guess was secure in his
masculinity).....some of the readers of this group may have worked him!
So, if you are looking for a quick QSO, in these times, by calling CQ QQ you
better make sure you are fully understood!
