Out in the center of North America, the WPX defines
the term non-contest. Other than a few VE's and "KW"
Europeans on 40/80 there really are only 0 pointers to
work until the 3 hour 20M EU opening on Saturday AM.
It's pretty depressing listening to the East Coast run
6 point/new PFX EU's on 40M while I sit in 9A1A's
pileup for 5 minutes.
The excitement speaks for itself in the results. The
High power W0 winner last year made 72 Q's. His call
was actually in bold print and he got a certificate!
The ARRL 10GHZ test had more W0 entrants than WPX SSB.
It doesn't have to be. One point for each Q, any band,
any country times total number of prefixes worked. What
could be fairer? It'll never happen though!
