Joe to answer your question... there are LPT cards that can be set to LPT-3.
I have 3 in my contest computers.
In regards to NA's new feature & control box.... I'll be using a proto-type
of this box for CQWW SSB. I believe TR will also support this box in the
future.
The box controls the mic line and the DVP so you can control your audio from
being transmitted on two bands at the same time. Let me give you an example
of how I do it:
Radio #1: F1-CQ CQ CQ CQ
Radio #2: S&P and I find DL1IAO on a 2nd band. I type ALT-D which brings
up a dupe check window for the band of the 2nd radio. If the DL1IAO is not
a dupe he shows up on the NA screen as needed on the 2nd radio. At this
point Radio #1 is still CQing. If I hit F2 (which normally sends the
callsign memory to radio #1) the program stops the CQ on radio #1, switches
the mic line to radio #2, dumps the callsign message from F2, switches the
mic line back to radio #1, and starts the CQ up again on radio #1.
If DL1IAO now comes back to me on radio #2 with a report, I simply hit F3
which will again break the CQ on radio #1, send the report message stored in
F3 to radio #2, and finally start the CQ up again on radio #1 automatically.
Ba-da-Bing... Ba-da-boom.... New mult for me.
This box also controls audio automatically. Personally I listen to both
radios all weekend so it's not for me. But, I believe someone just starting
out in the 2 radio game will like this feature. K8CC swears by it.
I believe this is a must have for any serious single operator using 2
radios. Using 2 computers works fine, but is too much junk on the desktop.
You also have to control your mic lines or keying lines so no TXing on two
bands. This approach is clean and easy.
Look for the boards for the box from LTA in the near future.
