I have to agree....Why bother with all this scoring?? I much preferred the
"Get on-Have fun" apsect. The intent of this "contest" was supposed to be
an "everybody wins" event, not to get K1EA to add it to CT.
"Hey Erika! Want to get on Daddy's radio and talk to some other kids?"
"YEAH!!!!!"
Half the fun of being a parent is being jealous.
Their job is to have fun. Our job is to make sure they do.

Agreed, but I think (hope) that this is how everyone will treat
it again this time. You can't throw a 3-yr old and a 13-yr old
into the same "contest" but you can throw them into the same
"operating event" where nobody wins or loses.
I'll be there with the same hired gun as last time, and I'm not
even going to tell her about multipliers and scores, we're just
going to meet up with a bunch of other kids and have fun. We'll
stop if and when she wants to and we'll ragchew if she wants to.
Hope you have all seen KO9Y's great write-up in the latest NCJ.
There's a photo of several of the kids, including the one who
did it with me - this kid is hot, notice that she stands up to
operate; none of this slouching "armchair copy" stuff. Pow!
If you want to set goals, a reasonable one is for the Jr Ops to
make the same number of QSOs as their ages. But don't tell 'em
any rules, just let 'em talk.
As I write, 5A1A is being spotted on 14200. If they come up on
14275 on Sunday afternoon, the rules are changed... your score
is how many times you can work Libya in 2 hours.
