subj: contest preference & sprint & chairs & stuff
Looks like things are cooling down (?). While I am not a big time contester
(more of a small pistol DXer who dabbles in contests, although I do hold one
WPX record for 5-land), I think I can safely say that one's preferences in
contests is very much a matter of taste, and we all know that YOU CAN NOT
DISPUTE TASTE! Just like tastes in food and music (and most everything else)
you like what you like for your own reasons, and there is simply no point
to argue what is "better". Of course, if one is willing to broaden one's
horizons and try new things, often one's tastes will expand as they find
that there are new things to like and life can become even more enjoyable.

p.s. I corrected all of you CW sprinters who busted my call as WB5N, so if
you still got it wrong it's not my fault!
p.s.s. Regarding chairs: until you spend the bux for a good one, spruce up
your fave chair by buying an inexpensive lumbar support pillow. You can
also fold up a towel or such in a pinch (like on expeditions) for lumbar
support, but it tends to fall out of place when you get up or move around.
And whatever chair or support you use, you have to sit in it properly:
Push your butt all the way back into the chair so the lumbar support will
push against and support your low back. This will straighten up your
upper back, neck, etc. Knees 90 degree angle, feet on floor. By the way,
I'm a massage therapist and if any of you really serious dxpeditioners
want to pay my way I can make sure your back stays in good shape for the
contest :-)
